Rock N Roll Heaven takes Fleet to the top

By Lauren Lee

After stalking the lead for weeks, Harold Fleet has finally earned the top spot in the Dream Stable standings on the strength of Rock N Roll Heaven’s weekend win in the $604,000 Tattersalls Pace at the Red Mile in Lexington, KY. Fleet vaulted by previous leader (Reg and Donna Higgs) with the win and now leads by more than $200,000 as the contest heads down the homestretch.

Rock N Roll Heaven, who has put himself in the catbird seat for the U.S. horse of the year award, was selected by 26 Dream Stable managers at the outset of the contest. Fleet and Brett Romano, who currently sits in third place, are the only two competitors in the top 10 with Rock N Roll Heaven ($1,835,627) on their rosters.

As such, Fleet and Romano may be hard to beat with the Rock N Roll Heaven express showing no signs of slowing down even as the temperature drops and the end of the season draws ever closer. If all goes according to plan over the next few weeks, Rock N Roll Heaven still has both the $350,000 (est.) Progress Pace and the $315,000 (est.) Matron Stakes at Dover Downs on his November schedule — with high hopes of adding to his already substantial 2010 bankroll.

However, all is not yet lost for those within striking distance. There is still plenty of money on the table, especially at Woodbine with the upcoming and lucrative Fall Four stakes — Goldsmith Maid, Governors Cup, Three Diamonds, Valley Victory — to go along with the $2.4 million that will be distributed in the Ontario Sires Stakes Super Finals next month.
